Why I Started in Digital Marketing

I started this business as a way to create purpose and fulfillment in my life. The thing about being a solo-entrepreneur is that it's hard to bounce ideas, get support, and to do it all. 11 years ago I became a mom for the first time. I quickly realized that it was isolating for me. I was excited, but also lonely at times. When I searched for a mom group, I quickly realized that these moms were judgmental and sometimes not very welcoming. This lead me to create a mom community running programs for women to socialize and bond with baby. To fund my programs, I partnered with businesses. This experience showed me the value in marketing and I feel in love with the creativity of it.

Running this mom community fueled so much drive and ambition inside me. I won the Mompreneur award in my first year of business. In 2019, I was co-hosting my own TV called Mom Talk with Jemi on Filipino TV. These amazing things happened because I decided to start a local mom community. I was able to run a business with a toddler and baby, plus add a third a few years in. I had business meetings breastfeeding or carrying a baby. I had tables at booths with a playpen and stroller. It was difficult at times but create an income with my babies beside me was like winning the lottery. I would never of changed that experience.

Today's Mom Collective birthed from my mom community. Our tagline is "Motherhood and Digital Marketing". I write for moms that have businesses and moms that want to be a brand. I also cater to businesses that want to target the Millennial mom. My children were no longer babies, and I decided it was time to switch gears and concentrate on the mom that wants to work from home. The mom that was like me, looking for a purpose or to start an income from home without having to sacrifice time with their children.

There's a few things I learned along the way that I would like to pass on.  There is so much information out there about digital marketing. You can learn from online courses, YouTube, books, and podcasts now. It's an wonderful time to live in. On the other side of that, everything changes quickly. With so much information it's easy to get lost. I specialize in the Mom Market. I honed in my expertise to know everything about this very lucrative market to help my clients reach moms more effectively.

Everyday I get to control how my day looks. Working from home gives me the freedom to choose which tasks to work on, on what timeline, and even if I want to change location. One day I may take my laptop and have coffee at my local coffee shop. Another time I may take my children to a trampoline park with Free Wi-fi. Whatever the case is, I am free to decide on how that all looks to me. My hope on this journey is that I am able to fuel a part in my brain and heart that wants to soar. My hope is that I am able to build a community that builds me up as much as I build them up. My hope is that my family will travel places because of the work I am doing.
